Sham- Sham
On their self-titled release, Shane Justice McCord’s Asheville ensemble Sham builds a knotty, acoustic landscape free from modern technological poison. Clarinets and cellos swoop with the grace of skydancing eagles across arrangements that pit a rooted, garden-like intimacy against sharp, prickly discomfort. It’s a beautifully peculiar record that sounds like a song sung by wild creatures nested high in the forest canopy.
