Woke County Speedway- S/T

The self-titled debut from Triangle area rock-and-roll scene lifers Woke County Speedway turns alt-country on its head with a spicier, grimey blend of pickle-back rock and bombed-out country punk. Completely stripped of pedal steel, these high and lonesome tracks lean into a weary, cynical edge that channels the raw, pissed-off friction of the Country Teasers. It completely avoids any whiff of kitsch, delivering three-minute gut-punches soundtracking the punishing, Sisyphus-like shittiness of life's game.
